Totty ...
|

Meet Totty… she was brought to
us after her owners noticed a swelling on the left hand side
of her face… something we see often as a simple abscess….She
had the abscess investigated and a swab was taken – showing
very nasty bacteria which meant she needed daily antibiotic
injections for 4 weeks…
The abscess returned and it was found
that the bacteria had now become resistant to all of our common
antibiotics…Totty was admitted for intensive care and
very strong human antibiotics infused through a drip for 2
weeks…Unfortunately even this didn’t stop the abscess
and it returned… She underwent very risky surgery to
remove the entire abscess and leave the wound open to heal….

Totty was very resilient, she had
undergone a 3 hour operation and when we went to wake her
up she stopped breathing…. Thanks to quick reactions
by the veterinary nurses who monitor all our patients she
was revived.Totty, at 10 years old, has been a superstar
and a very favourite patient, thanks to her owners dedication
she has been given another lease of life!
